Biography


Steven Orange has been the Timber Sale Administrator on the Deschutes NF, Sisters RD for 6 ½ years and has worked for the USFS for 14 years in fire, silviculture, pre-sale, and sale administration in Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and Oregon. He has worked extensively with implementing DxP over the years while utilizing both Cut-to-Length and Whole Tree Logging systems to achieve land management objectives. Steven holds a B.S. in Forestry from Southern Illinois University.

Presentation Description

The Sisters RD has seen both CTL and Whole Trees Skidding on our restoration projects over the years. Steven will provide the pros/cons of each system including production efficiencies as well as environmental considerations. Real-time results and pictures of cutting units that have been harvested from each type will also be shown.
